There are several aspects leaders must appreciate to acquire team mastery.
We will specifically discuss these three components: people management,
conflict management, and managing differences.
People Management
As leaders, we need to create an environment where the whole of a person is valued and respected, ensuring our teams become engaged through not only their skills, but also through their goals, visions, ideas, outputs, and relationships.
Conflict Management
There are two types of conflict. One is a productive conflict when diverse opinions come together to produce the best solutions to problems. The other type of conflict is detrimental conflict. Detrimental conflict becomes personal, and people get hurt.
Managing Differences
Gender differences are important for leaders to recognize and seek to understand. While I am a huge proponent of equality, I also recognize there are unique gifts that many female leaders possess which male leaders may not, and vice versa.
